Reba is a 10-year-old Off-the-Track Thoroughbred (OTTB) who has experienced a challenging journey. Rescued by Hooker Ranch Equine Refuge, Reba was in need of a safe and loving environment after her career in racing came to an end. Her story is one of resilience and healing, as she now begins her new chapter with Divine Path Ranch, who adopted her in March 2024.

Physical Health and Injuries

During her time on the racetrack, Reba suffered an injury that caused irreversible damage to her hock joint. This injury has affected her ability to move freely and without pain. To help manage her condition, Reba requires ongoing treatment, including daily medications like Bute and Equioxx to manage inflammation and reduce pain. In addition to these, she needs joint supplements to support the overall health of her joints and maintain some mobility.

Mental and Emotional Health

Aside from her physical struggles, Reba also faces significant anxiety and has a hard time trusting people. As a result of her past experiences, Reba can be nervous around humans, making it difficult for her to form bonds right away. She is being slowly and carefully rehabilitated not just physically, but emotionally as well. Her adoption at Divine Path Ranch provides her with a peaceful, safe space to heal and regain her trust in humans, though it is clear that patience and understanding are key in her recovery.

To help manage her anxiety, Reba is also given calming supplements, which aid in reducing her stress levels and help her relax in her new home.
